Central bank issues reminder to FBME depositors

The central bank on Wednesday issued a reminder that the procedure for refunding customers under the Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DGS) was underway.
It said that as of Wednesday, depositors could visit the FBME premises during bank working hours for the submission of duly completed and signed statements and relevant accompanying documentation.
Provided that they receive a signed verification by authorised staff appointed by the special administrator in the statement of particulars, they could then visit the central bank on Kennedy Avenue in Nicosia, for further processing of their documentation.
The above procedure is not necessary for depositors who submitted their details by June 14 to the central bank.
In the cases of legal persons, statements of particulars must be submitted by either the authorised signatories of the specific FBME account and as such are already found in the FBME records or the ultimate beneficial owner(s) of the specific account and this fact should coincide with the relevant FBME records.
The Tanzanian lender had its licence withdrawn by the central bank in December after it was linked to money laundering and terror financing by US financial authorities.
Depositors can visit the FBME and the central bank during the following hours:
FBME: 9am until 1pm
Central Bank 8am until 1pm.
