Work starts at Arsenal Cyprus

More than 250 youngsters, aged 4 to 14, are training at Arsenal Soccer School Cyprus

The 2016-2017 season has brought changes to the official Gunners academy – new coaches and a second branch in Deftera

With the coaching team going through an extensive make-over and a second branch opening at the Grammar School grounds in Deftera, Arsenal Soccer School Cyprus has commenced their training ahead of the 2016-2017 football season.

More than 250 youngsters, aged 4 to 14, are training at Arsenal Cyprus, a number expected to reach the 300-mark by the end of October, since late signings always occur during the second month of training.

With Arsenal – as Keravnos Strovolou’s sole feeder club – pulling out of the CFA U13 and U15 championships (due to a string of rule changes put forward in the summer by the federation) the official Gunners’ academy has shifted its attention to the younger ages. A record number of pre-elementary kids have joined the ranks of Arsenal Cyprus, with the respective training sessions featuring fun, pressure free, activities.

The parents have the option to work around the training schedules and make up the schedule that best fits them. The training also includes seminars and visits from coaches from London and other Arsenal academies. All training at the official Arsenal Academy in Cyprus as well as around the world strictly follows the “Play the Arsenal Way” moto.

Joining the coaching team, which is led by technical director Ara Bedrossian, are six new coaches. They are Prodromos Michael, Andreas Charalambous, Elias Kyratzis, Hugo Kouendjou, goalkeeping coach Silvio Muller and Loizos Louvaris, who is in charge of the The Grammar School, Deftera school. Nicolas Costa will continue his duties from last season.

All the coaches have the necessary diplomas as well as the coaching and personal characteristics Arsenal is looking for. The Cypriot academy, along with all the other international branches, is also fully supporting the Safeguarding procedures, which puts guidelines on the behaviour and protection of young persons.

Arsenal Cyprus and Marinos Satsias have teamed up, working together in terms of fitness, strength and recovery. The former Apoel captain is based at the New Life gym (former Salto), across the Keravnos sporting area, where Arsenal train.
