The official programme of the European Capital Pafos2017 events moves to Lemona village on Friday, where a feast will take place at the village square to celebrate the harmonious coexistence of expats who now live there.
The feast is part of the artistic project entitled The Corner of a Foreign Field by Lia Lapithi and Nic Costa. The artistic happening started in 2015 when, in preparation for their exhibition, the pair set-up a food event at the local Tsangarides winery. The feast brought together foreign inhabitants of the area and it was filmed to create a documentary about the symbiosis of foreigners and locals in Paphos.
The documentary, which also wanted to celebrate the lives of European migrants who left their homes in search of a simpler and better quality of life, attempts to access issues relevant to the prospects and the possibilities of a harmonious coexistence in a multicultural and highly Cypriot environment.
The audio-visual project has taken on a life of its own as it has been and continues to be screened in various festivals all over the world.
Wanting to once again celebrate the life of expats in Lemona, a second meal will take place on Friday while at the same time the film from 2015 will be screened at the local school.
