Just under 100 players representing 12 clubs in Cyprus gathered at Elea Golf Club (EGC) on Sunday to compete for the Cyprus Golf Federation Cup.
This popular competition is organised by the CGF each year, with the venue circulating around the four grass clubs in Paphos.
Almost perfect conditions met the players for the 09.30 Shotgun start, although the wind strengthened after a couple of hours to make the play more testing.
Each club had eight players with the best six scores from each to count – played in Stableford format.
The scores overall were very good, assisted to some degree by the excellent condition of the course.
Players enjoyed a buffet prior to the announcement of results and presentation of trophies to the winning club team. This was Elea GC with a total of 209 points, closely pursued by Paphos Golf Association (PGA) with 207 points.
Trophies were also presented to the Man and Lady with the highest individual scores. Lynne Betchley of PGA won the ladies trophy with 34 points, and Sarel du Plessis of International Golf Club Nicosia won the men’s trophy with an excellent score of 42 points.
