Some €30,000 in cash was stolen from a home in Ayia Thekla in the Famagusta region during the weekend.
A 30-year-old businessman reported to police on Sunday afternoon that the money in various banknotes was taken between 9.30pm on Saturday and 1am on Sunday.
The 5kg metal box which contained the money was stolen from under the floor of a bedroom on the first storey. The box was not secured to anything.
Police who went to the scene found no sign of forced entry.
The house does not have an alarm system or video surveillance and is not covered by insurance.
