The second Reggae Sunjam music festival will be jamming in Paphos over the weekend with local and international talent.
Last year’s festival will be topped with a total of 23 hours of Roots, Reggae, Dub, Steppers and Dancehall rhythms.
To get the festival started right will be Professor Skank from Greece. He is considered to be the most well-known Greek Dub producer. He started experimenting with dub reggae at the age of 14. After a time of blending and testing out his mixing skills, he took over the reggae scene and began to release track after track, and work with a number of other artists.
The stage will then be taken over by two women who come together under the name Syrina Sound. The duo strictly play vinyl, old and new roots plus reggae and dub music.
The last two performances for the first day will be by Mrs HCN and DJ Monday. Both DJs will show how a life dedicated to good quality music is one where you are always chasing the bass line in a quest to bring some good vibrations to the audience.
The second day of the festival will feature Jammaroots from Greece, King Of Eye, Haji Mike and Kemal, Dub Thomas, Pan Khaos, Suzie Selecta, Constantinos and the Chillum Brothers.
Jammaroots – Maria Perdiki – is a musician, songwriter, drummer, singer and also a multi-instrumentalist. She can do a lot but her musical ear has pulled her to reggae and it seems that there she will stay.
Continuing on the dub root will be King of Eye, who loves to give sounds a second lease of life.
Haji Mike needs no introduction so we will continue with Pan Khaos who frequently DJs on the radio and is a founding member of Dubophonic records.
