People around Kalavasos were outraged when they discovered the desecration of 15 graves in their cemetery on Friday morning.
14 of the graves were damaged and four sprayed with anti-Semitic symbols and Swastikas while candles were also used during the destruction, pointing to a black magic ceremony.
President of the community council Lefteris Fokas strongly condemned the actions, expressing his concern and saying he and the community hoped nothing similar would happen to other cemeteries in the region.
The Kalavasos cemetery is located 300 metres from residences. The last person to visit the cemetery before the vandalism was there at 6pm on Thursday and the first to see what happened was a resident who went to visit the graveyard at 8.30am on Friday.
Zygi police are investigating a case of unlawful entry and religious and malicious damage.
