Nine dogs died in a kennel at Zakaki, Limassol, in a fire that was found to have been arson, a police report said on Saturday.
According to the report, a civilian saw the fire shortly after 6am and was able to rescue three dogs from their cages in a fenced area owned by a 29-year-old.
Police and Fire Service men rushed to the scene and put out the fire, but found that nine dogs had died in the blaze.
Preliminary investigations suggested the fire had been the result of arson.
