The Hamam in Nicosia is the place where relaxation has found its home and for two days later on in the month, it will also be home to two days of yoga sessions, led by London-based yoga instructor Francesca Kastelanides.
Kastelanides, who has been a trainer for the past ten years, will be teaching four sessions at the Hamam on September 18 and 25 at 5pm and 7pm. If you prefer to do your yoga inside – Hot Yoga – then you should go for the 5pm slot, but if you would rather your yoga outside, then the 7pm session – which will concentrate on Ashtanga and work on your flexibility, strength and endurance – is the one for you. But it might be wise to show your interest early as the more interest there is for one type, the more chances that outside will win over inside, or vice versa.
The one-hour sessions will be a gentle flow of postures that will mostly work on detoxing and de-stressing the body, as well as relaxing it. Emphasis will be placed on the hips and core.
You don’t have to be a dedicated yoga addict to take part in either session, as they are both suitable for anyone – yes, even if you have never done it before, Kastelanides will “guide people through sequences and postures offering modifications depending on ability, taking into consideration experience, injuries and other factors,” the yoga instructor said.
Kastelanides runs a company in London called YogaBugs, which sends out teachers to schools and nurseries to teach yoga to children. She also runs SoYoga, where she runs her own classes and other yoga retreats around Europe. She runs a yoga retreat here every year and also comes over a few times a year for other sessions.
If you like yoga with Kastelanides, then you surely will be back for more when she makes her next trip to our island to spread the yoga love.
