The big game of Round 9 of the Cyprus Football Championship between Apoel and Apollon was called off on Wednesday afternoon after a 30-minute downpour rendered the GSP Stadium pitch in Nicosia unplayable.
The game between Cyprus’ two European representatives will now be rescheduled for a later date.
Early pacesetters Anorthosis were in action on Wednesday evening but could only draw 0-0 at home against Pafos FC.
The result sees the Famagusta club drop to second in the table, behind AEK on goal difference, while Pafos continue their unexpectedly strong start to the season, as they lie in third place, four points behind the leading duo.
Elsewhere, Aris beat Ethnikos Achnas 2-1, while Ermis took the three points against Alki Oroklinis after a 3-2 win.
