A 28-year-old man was arrested by Paphos police on Saturday morning in connection with theft from a 37-year-old female tourist, a police report said.
According to the report, around 3:30pm Friday, she was visited in her hotel room by the man, whom she had met a few days previously.
She claimed that, as soon as she opened the door, the man hit her in the face and stole the cash from her purse.
He then left, after threatening her that, were she to tell the police about the incident, he would hurt her.
The 28-year-old was arrested early on Saturday.
The woman visited the Paphos general hospital and was found to have sustained bruises and lacerations on her face and right arm.
