The local legend that is Anna Vissi will be returning home this Christmas period to give a performance to support the Sophia Foundation for Children.
This is the not the first time the singer has performed a charity concert to support the foundation – whose aim is to fight poverty and its repercussions, mainly when it comes to Children – and this time she will be giving it her all at the Thoc new theatre building on Wednesday at 8.30pm.
Vissi, who moved to Greece in 1973 to pursue a professional career as a singer, is famously known for her Cypriot origins and her performances at the Eurovision song contest, where she has represented both Cyprus and Greece. She is also famous for performing in the first Greek rock opera entitled Daimones (Demons) in 1991 – something that she has described as an artistic achievement in her career.
The singer is no stranger to big venues, like the Albert Hall, and large audiences, so when she sings some of her most famous hits from her 28 solo studio albums, she will bring on stage all her experience and all her years of filling the air with a great sound for this one very unique Christmas treat.
Live performance by the Greek singer. December 6. THOC New Theatre Building, 9 Gregori Afxentiou, Nicosia. 8.30pm. €40/50/60. Tel: 77-772717
