Tim Burton fans will run to get tickets to the dance performance The Nightmare Before Christmas, based on the director’s film, making its way on to the Limassol Pattihio stage next Thursday.
The performance will bring us face-to-face with Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town, with the dancing feet of the El Duende School of Dance with choreography by Philippa Stylianoude.
The dance school is celebrating its 13th year of creative performances and to celebrate its students will put on a Christmas show to remember while also supporting the Karaiskakio Foundation. It might be a Christmas show but that won’t limit the action. The audience will get to enjoy some flamenco, contemporary, ballet and jazz dancing.
The 1993 animated film – which started off as a poem – shows Skellington stumble through a portal to Christmas Town. He decides to celebrate the holiday and bring it to his own town, which causes some confusion and comical consequences.
Apart from the students of El Duende, the participants in the performance include Compania Flamenca Philippa Stylianoude, musical performer Adamos Anastasiou, Batukinio Cyprus group of percussion, Bassick Crew break dance team, Angel Padev (stilts walker) and Aglantzia Municipality Choir.
All proceeds from the show will be donated to the Karaiskakio Foundation.
