Nicosia and Limassol will take us away to the world of Neverland on Saturday with a screening of Peter Pan from the National Theatre.
This classic family tale is just right for this time of year, when magic is in the air and we might just believe in fairies. The recorded performance, captured live at the National Theatre, brings JM Barrie’s much-loved story of a boy who never grows up to cinemas all over the world.
When Peter Pan, leader of the Lost Boys, loses his shadow, headstrong Wendy helps him to reattach it. In return, she is invited to Neverland – along with her two brothers Michael and John – where Tinker Bell the fairy, Tiger Lily and the vengeful Captain Hook and his pirates await. An array of magic, music and make-believe follow in this production directed by Sally Cookson – that has been called “an awfully big adventure” that “ticks and all Christmas boxes for adults and children.”
There is a lot of flying around, acrobatics, dazzling costumes and scenery in this two-and-a-half-hour-long performance that will keep the whole family delighted and in the right festive mood for Christmas.
Screening of the performance as part of the National Theatre Live series. December 23. THOC, Nicosia and Rialto Theatre, Limassol. 6.30pm. €7/10. With Greek and English subtitles. Tel: 77-772717 and 77-777745
