How long would you say it should take to change your pension from one bank account to another?
My current bank is closing down so I had to change to another bank.
Of course I had to change my direct debits and my pensions to be paid into a different account.
My British pension was changed within three days.
My private pension was changed within two weeks.
I have been trying to change my Cyprus pension since May 2017 without success. Countless e-mail were sent to the ministry of works and pensions without reply. I got no reply from the Paphos branch of the Citizens Centre nor from Akel Paphos.
Eventually, I got some help from someone who suggested that I should contact a specific person in the ministry. This I did in October 2017 but as yet I have no acknowledgement of receipt of my email. I asked the same person for help again and she said she would speak to the specific person for me and get back to me. This was at the end of October 2017.
Since then the silence from all Cypriot authorities is deafening. Except in November, I had a letter from the ministry of works and pensions asking me to fill a form, get it signed by my doctor, wanting in effect to know whether I was still alive and threatening to stop my pension if I didn’t answer within a month. I did reply and put a trace on my letter so I know they received it.
I respectfully request that you share this with as many people as possible. Let’s show these uncaring civil servants that now we have the Internet and will no longer tolerate their disrespect.
