Honouring International Women’s Day on March 8, Opap Cyprus has renewed its support for Europa Donna Cyprus. “We honour every woman in Cyprus, we honour every woman who is claiming with dignity the right to a healthy life,” Opap Cyprus CEO Demetris Aletraris said, handing over the company’s annual sponsorship to Europa Donna Cyprus chairwoman Evi Papadopoulou.
The ceremony took place during a visit by the Opap CEO to the Europa Donna premises in Nicosia, accompanied by the company’s head of marketing Agathi Mannaridou.
Expressing his respect for the important work the organisation carries out, Aletraris confirmed Opap will continue to support their “pectoral friendship” referring to the programmes Europa Donna has ‘Pectoral friends’, ‘I support’ and ‘I know’ which Opap Cyprus has supported over time.
Apart from supportiing Europa Donna, Opap helps public hospitals, providing them with modern medical equipment for the early detection and prevention of breast cancer. “The health sector is a top priority of our social action,” Aletraris repeated, adding that “for Opap Cyprus, Women’s Day is a reminder of our obligation to express our respect to women of Cyprus and to support their struggles.”
Thanking Aletraris, Papadopoulou said “with the strong, consistent support from Opap Cyprus, the Europa Donna Cyprus programmes can work effectively and efficiently, benefiting tens of hundreds of women in our county. Europa Donna staff and volunteers… embrace every woman that goes through breast cancer and her family members, offering information, psychological support and practical help, in a warm and peaceful environment. The help Opap Cyprus offers us towards this effort is important.”
