Foreign Minister Nicos Christodoulides will meet UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Thursday in Rome.
A UN source told the Cyprus News Agency that the meeting will take place following the request of the Cyprus government on the sidelines of a donor conference for the UN Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA).
According to CNA, Christodoulides will also meet his Italian counterpart Angelino Alfano during his trip to Rome.
Christodoulides is expected to reiterate President Nicos Anastasiades’ readiness to restart negotiations on the Cyprus problem. The foreign minister will also inform the UNSG on the Turkish provocations in the island’s EEZ.
According to CNA, Christodoulides will also note that the Greek Cypriot side sees the end of Turkey’s actions in the EEZ as a prerequisite to restarting talks.
