Tractor death

AN Australian expat, 82, died on Tuesday from a lung rupture after being crushed by his tractor in a field in Alamino, in the Larnaca district.

A post mortem on Loucas Kyriakou, was carried out yesterday by state pathologist Eleni Antoniou who said that ‘the cause of the 82-year-old man’s death was a lung rupture with hemothorax.

The tractor was taken by police for examination. Kyriakou had gone to his field earlier in the day and loaded his tractor with a 250 liter sprayer.. When he was late home, his daughter and son-in-law started looking for him.

They found him around 7.50pm crushed by the tractor in a four metre ravine. Police and officers from the pecial rescue unit, went to the scene.

Kyriakou was taken to Larnaca General hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

Kyriakou was staying with his daughter for the past month. He lived in Australia but came back to Cyprus for long periods of time.
