Cyprus finish third at Games of Small States of Europe

CYPRUS finished in third place in the medals table at the 15th Games of the Small States of Europe which wrapped up in Luxemburg this weekend.

Despite being level with Iceland on 28 gold medals, the Mediterranean island won less medals overall.

The Cypriots entered the last day of the Games hoping to garner enough medals to beat Iceland into second place, while host country Luxemburg had already secured top place. The Cypriot track and field athletes won eight gold medals out of 13 disciplines, while teams in group sports added four out of six, but tennis, table tennis and beach volley representatives failed to secure any golds.
