UPDATE: Murder in Aglandjia

Police are investigating the murder of 77-year-old Georgios Stavrou, who was found alive in the early hours of this morning in the freezer of his butcher shop in Nicosia with 25 stab wounds, police said.

According to reports, the victim, whose shop is next to Atlas Aglandja’s clubhouse in the capital, was found by a neighbour at around 6am.

The butcher died in the ambulance on his way to Nicosia General Hospital, police said.

According to state pathologist, Eleni Antoniou, the 77-year-old had 25 stab wounds to his head and stomach.
Police investigators are combing the scene of the crime for evidence.
