Civil servants, teachers to strike for one hour on Thursday

TRADE unions PASYDY, SEK, PEO, DEOK, ETYK OELMEK, POED, OLTEK WEAO, the Police Union and the Cyprus Army union will strike tomorrow from 9.30am until 10.30am for European tax justice week.

The unions will rally outside the ministry of finance. “The trade unions request that tax fairness be established, that tax evasion be fought and tax fraud terminated.

“We ask from the government and parliament to locate the guilty parties who led the country to its current tragic state and to bring those responsible to justice,” a statement released by the Pancyprian Public Employees Trade Union (PASYDY) said.

Workers at essential service points will not participate in the strike.
