Russian roulette sends Spain to the final.

Spain’s Navas scored the decisive 14th penalty to send the world and European champions into Sundays final against Brazil.

Italy was much the better side in the first half and spurned 4 golden opportunities to take the lead. Spain managed just one clear cut opportunity when Torres escaped his marker but fired narrowly wide late on in the half.

The second half was very poor with neither side willing to push players forward.

The game sprung to life in the first part of extra time with Italy hitting the bar and Spain going close twice. In the second part Spain increased the tempo but was unlucky when Xavi’s long range strike hit the post.
