Flight details via SMS

THE PUBLIC will be able to receive information about flights arriving and departing the country’s airports through sms messages from today.

In a statement to the press, Hermes Airports said that people will be able to send a message to 99 77 88 33 to get information about a flight, requiring only the flight number.

“For example if you were to send a sms with the flight number AA323 to 99 77 88 33, the service would send you an automated response, informing you about the flight’s status at the time of communication,” the statement said.

The public will also be able to receive continued information about a flight by adding a question mark to the end of the flight code.

“By sending AA323? for example, you will receive continuous messages about the flight’s progress and what stage it is at, whether it is at a check-in or boarding stage or whether it has been delayed or not,” the statement explained.

If the public wish to speak to an airport official they can still ring the airport phone centre on 7777 8833.
The service is free of charge, with only the cost of the sms being charged to the sender’s phone.
