Clampdown on illegal constructions in Strovolos estate

Strovolos municipality will start demolishing illegal construction in government housing estates, it said on Friday.

The municipality has decided to “put an end to these illegal practices that have been going on for many years” it said in a statement. All residents have been given notice.

The municipality’s goal is to “solve the unacceptable problem and to improve the quality of life,” the statement added.

“The random constructions are mainly built in parking areas, public spaces, courtyards and dead end streets,” the municipality said.
