Baghdatis withdraws from Bundesliga event

By Nemanja Bjedov

Marcos Baghdatis dropped out of TC Blau-Weiss Halle’s fourth-round Bundesliga clash against SV Wacker Burghausen, which was played on Sunday.

The 28-year-old Cypriot did not have a quality opponent to take on, as Burghausen’s top player Carlos Berlocq featured in both the singles and doubles final at the SkiStar Swedish Open in Bastad, where he captured his first career singles title.

Philipp Oswald of Austria, currently ranked 432nd, was Burghausen’s first choice, and they represented no trouble for title contenders Halle, who eventually triumphed 4-2.
