A new app for all things Cypriot

By Miles Surrey
A BRAND new app ‘All Around Cyprus’, designed by Andreas Constantinides has been created to help Cypriots manage information about, you guessed it, all things Cyprus-related.
Constantinides, whose app has received five star ratings for all its reviews on Google Play, had drawn motivation from the lack of an all around app to cover the needs of Cypriots in their daily lives.
“What inspired me is that there is no complete app for Cypriot newspapers and in general Cypriots, so I decided to create it. I support mostly Cypriot agencies for news and services, with the exclusion of YouTube and Instagram, so it’s a Cypriot app supporting Cypriot media,” Constantinides said.
The app has several key functions, including an option to ‘star’ your favourite articles as well as being able to change the layout from a thumbnail view to a listed view. The customisable features give the app a personal feel for its user, which Constantinides will continue to emulate when updated versions are made available. He plans to add Cypriot pharmacies, tourist guides and maps as part of future updates.
Initially having only news from Sigmalive, Phileleftheros and the Cyprus Mail, the app now has categories for “LifeStyle & Showbiz News”, a blogging category featuring more than 280 blogs that are filtered for news and event information from websites such as
One of the highlighted features Constantinides has recently added was a feature for Cypriot banks, which has been very popular with the app users.
“Someone told me that some Cypriot banks do not have a mobile application, so I created a section in the app where you can view the online banking of two major banks in Cyprus, Hellenic Bank and Bank of Cyprus,” he said. “This helps users that do not want to browse through their web browser to view the banking site, they can just open the app.”
The application is only configured for Android and Linux-run phones as well as tablets. There are no current plans to add the app to iPhone users, since iOS is a closed platform and Constantinides is a supported of open platforms like Android and Linux.
