A restaurant in Larnaca was set on fire during the early hours of Wednesday causing around €20,000 of damage, police said.

At around 3.30am the fire service was called to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze before it caused damage to the inside of the restaurant, a police spokesperson said.

The restaurant’s guard told police that a person was seen approaching the establishment, starting a fire and then speeding away in a car.
