Man run over by his own ice-cream truck

A 61-year-old man Giorgos Andreou from Alethriko in the Larnaca district, was run over by his own ice-cream van after leaving the handbrake on.

On exiting his property Friday morning, Andreou had gotten out of the van to close the gates behind him when the accident happened at around 10am.

His special-needs daughter, 25, was in the vehicle when it began to roll forward towards the opposite side of the road, and when he realised what was happening Andreou panicked and ran in front of the van to try and stop it but was crushed.

Andreou was rushed to Larnaca hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
