School supplies for needy children

THE non-profit organisation Hope for Children, the UNCRC Policy Centre (HFC) and Mavrommatis bookshops have joined forces to give free school supplies to children that come from low- income families.

The concept is under the title ‘Back to School with Hope’ and is part of the ‘Eliminating Child Poverty in Cyprus’ campaign run by HFC.

“The goal is simple, to help as many students who need school supplies as we can, so they can start the school year with these necessary items,” a joint statement from the three organisations said.

During the month of September, for every purchase of €10 or more, Mavrommatis will donate €1 towards school supplies for needy children.

Customers can also donate €1 or more towards the campaign.

School supplies at low prices will be available at the bookshop that people can buy and take to special collection points where members of Hope for Children will pick them up.

Anyone who has school supplies in good condition at home can also take them to the collection points.

“In this way, everyone can help to collect school supplies for children who really need them,” the statement said.
