THE FAMAGUSTA District Court on Saturday remanded in custody a 27-year-old Iranian in connection with charges of drug possession, resisting arrest and staying on the island without a permit.

According to Larnaca Press Agency, the 27-year-old was arrested on Friday afternoon by drugs squad officers while standing on a street in Ayia Napa.

Police said the man allegedly had a rolled-up cigarette containing cannabis in his possession, along with one gram of cannabis in a bag he was carrying. When the officers intervened, he allegedly resisted arrest.
