Armed heist nets €25,000

Three robbers armed with army-issue assault rifles stopped a vehicle transporting cash on the Meniko to Akaki road in the Nicosia district at around 9am on Wednesday, nabbing €25,000.

According to reports, the three assailants used two cars for the robbery, burning one of them after securing the loot from the vehicle, which was making a money run at the time it was intercepted.

The G3, the type of weapon used by the robbers is the standard assault rifle issued by the National Guard to conscripts, permanent staff and reserve forces.
