Future Worlds Centre (FWC) is calling on socially responsible enterprises and individuals to strengthen solidarity shown to asylum seekers, recognised refugees and their families in danger of living without shelter, food, water and electricity and are left with no access to other means of social assistance.
According to a press release, the FWC lists three ways in which interested companies and individuals can join the solidarity campaign: by ‘Adopting a Family’; by helping to repay rent, electricity or water bills; or on the spot by donating basic food and hygiene products such as rice, baby food, shampoo, and toilet paper.
For more information, call FWC on 22873820 or send an email to [email protected].
The FWC highlighted that the families included in the campaign have exhausted or could not find response from any other means of social assistance such as the Social Welfare Services, the Church of Cyprus and the various social groceries.
“In order to secure maximum levels of transparency, all necessary documents of unpaid bills and rents will be at the disposal of the interested parts on demand. The method of repayment is up to the interested enterprise or individual.
“To maximise the efficiency of the monitoring procedure, all receipts of bills or rents should be sent to our offices by mail or fax within a week from the day of their repayment,” said the statement.
