Larnaca: a kite surfer’s paradise

Kevin Langeree

World kite surfing champion, Kevin Langeree, has given the thumbs-up to Larnaca’s seas which are just right for the sport, he said.

“Larnaca’s beaches are blessed with ideal conditions for this kind of sport, including flat and very safe waters as well as consistent thermal winds,” Langeree said who recently participated in the first Cyprus kite surfing championships, King of Kite, held in Mazotos in Larnaca.

Kite surfing in Larnaca has been taking off since 2000 with a couple of schools catering to beginners and lovers of the sport.

“It’s great news that Cyprus is now on the kite surfing map and this will provide travellers with a new water sports activity to showcase Larnaca,” said Adonis Papakyriacou, the general manager of Palm Beach hotel which offers water sports.
