Man abducted, beaten and dumped

POLICE in Larnaca are searching for two men after a 36-year-old man was kidnapped from his flat and beaten just before midnight on Thursday.

“Two men attacked and beat the 36-year-old and then put him in the boot of their car and sped away,” police spokeswoman Nikoletta Tirimou said.

Officers visited the 36-year-old’s flat and established it had been broken into and there were traces of blood on the stairs.

“Shortly after 12.45am on Friday the 36-year-old returned to his flat accompanied by a Larnaca resident who reported to police that he had found the injured victim outside a betting shop in the town,” she said.

The 36-year-old was taken to Larnaca hospital where he received first aid and was released. He suffered a bruised lip, and a number of other bruises and burns from being dragged along the ground. “Arrest warrants have been issued for the two assailants and we believe that the attack was motivated by financial differences they had with the victim,” the spokeswoman said.
