Baghdatis to take on Berlocq in Kuala Lumpur

By Nemanja Bjedov

Marcos Baghdatis will be looking to avoid his 12th first-round exit this season when he takes on Argentina’s Carlos Berlocq at the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur, which runs from September 21-29.

The 28-year-old Cypriot and Berlocq are tied at 1-1 in their overall head-to-head series, with the Argentinean winning last year on grass in the first round of the Topshelf Open in Holland, and Baghdatis having the upper hand in their only hard surface meeting in the opening round of the Rogers Cup Masters in Toronto in 2012.

If Baghdatis overcomes Berlocq, he will then face the second-seed Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka.
