Suspected killer dog food on the market

COMPOUND dog food made in Spain under the brand names Megazookit and Vitcan Total Actividad has more concentrated amounts of theobromine and caffeine than allowed in dog food. This is believed to be responsible for the sudden deaths of a number of dogs, according to an announcement from the agriculture ministry yesterday.

The ministry said the company producing the dog food was GSL in Spain. The distributers in Cyprus are the hunting store Achilleas Iacovou and the S Mania Trading company. The product is in packages of 20kg under the brand name Megazookit (Lot number 1130215 and 1130418) and Vitcan Total Actividad Media (Lot number 1121005 and 1130311).

Dog owners who have this food in their possession must not feed it to their dogs and should return it.
