Man arrested for growing cannabis

OFFICERS from the drug squad arrested a 50-year-old man in Paphos on Monday in connection with a drugs related case.

Following a tip-off, surveillance was set up at farming area in Stroumbi village in Paphos where five cannabis plants were growing.

At around 11am on Monday, officers from the drug squad spotted a 50-year-old Stroumbi resident approaching the plants to water them.

He was arrested, and following questioning he admitted to growing the plants for his own use, police said. The plants, which were between 20 centimetres and 65 centimetres in height, were uprooted and confiscated.
