Suspected burglary gang remanded (Updated)

Paphos district court on Friday remanded four people – two women and two men aged between 28 and 36 – for four days on connection with a spate of burglaries.

All four were arrested late on Thursday when €24,000 worth of goods and cash were found stashed in their flat.

Police said they believe they had busted a ring of burglars after the four Bulgarians, who were living in the same flat in Peyia, were arrested.

According to police a search of the flat uncovered five laptops, four iPads, 15 men’s and women’s watches, nine mobile phones, six cameras, 11 handbags and wallets, €8,000 in notes, €540 in coins, jewellery and costume jewellery and other items.

Police say the items came from recent burglaries and thefts from hotel rooms in various tourist areas.
