CBC chief off to Washington

CENTRAL Bank of Cyprus governor Panicos Demetriades will participate in the 2013 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Washington DC.

The meetings began yesterday and will last until October13. Demetriades will also participate in the meeting of the Central Bank Governors of country members of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Washington DC.

The discussions in the Annual Meetings of the two international organisations will focus on current issues of concern, including: the global economic crisis, with emphasis on the euro area crisis; fiscal risks; the prospects and challenges for the recovery of financial stability; developments in international markets; debt restructuring and experiences of the recent past; and other related issues.

On the sidelines, Demetriades will also meet with colleagues from other countries, as well as with officials of the IMF.
