Rotary event to aid Alzheimer’s day care centres

TWO Rotary Clubs, those of Nicosia and Nicosia-Aspelia, are joining forces together with their respective Rotaractor Clubs in organising a fund raiser to help the Alzheimer’s Day Care Centres in Kaimakli and Lythrondas.

Efforts are being supported by the Nicosia Inner Wheel Club and the American Women’s Club of Cyprus, said an announcement.

The fundraiser comprises of a dinner to the accompaniment of singer/musician Marina Purita at a ticket price of €20 including wine, thus reflecting the current economic climate. Major sponsors include Lanitis Bros, Occhio Lounge Bar & Restaurant and Vlassydes Winery as well as private individuals like Hania and Farid Eghtesadi.

The event is also being sponsored by Ayia Mavri and Ficardos Wineries, Vinocultura Wine Cave, Debbies Cookies and Andreas Psaras. Also, Purita is offering her services free.

The event will take place on Friday October 11 at 8.30pm
at Occhio Lounge Bar & Restaurant.

Net proceeds will be donated to the Association of Friends of Alzheimer Sufferers. The Association supports the Alzheimer Day Care Centres on a regular annual basis. Both Rotary Clubs, being Founding Members of the two Alzheimer’s Day Care Centres, have taken, since their establishment, an active interest in providing annual financial support towards the running costs.

“It is hoped that the event will be supported not only by Rotarians but also by persons sensitive to devastation of this terrible modern-day affliction,” the announcement said.

Anyone interested for information or tickets should telephone 99597810 or email [email protected].
