As part of the LIFE project for the Restoration and management of Oroklini Lake, the Voroklini Community Council is organising this Sunday a volunteer clean-up day at Oroklini Lake.
The clean-up aims to remove as much illegally dumped waste from around the lake as possible, and to raise awareness on the value of this important wetland.
To have a greater impact the Voroklini Community Council will remove bulky waste using machinery from the site some days before the volunteer clean-up takes place.
Oroklini Lake is a very important area for birds and especially for the breeding of Spur-winged Lapwing and the Black-winged Stilt.
Despite its importance and the fact that a LIFE project is being implemented on the site for its protection and management, the lake suffers from litter and waste dumped on site.
Participating in this effort will help protect Oroklini Lake and raise awareness for this important wetland.
Time: 10:00 am
Meeting point: Car park area north of the lake, where the big sign for the lake is located (former Oups opposite EKO petrol station)
