The President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy is paying a visit to Cyprus, where he will discuss the Cyprus issue and economy with President Nicos Anastasiades.
According to an official announcement, Rompuy, accompanied by his spouse, will arrive in Cyprus Monday evening.
On Tuesday morning, he will meet with President Anastasiades and their tête-à-tête meeting will be followed by consultations between the two sides’ delegations.
It is added that they will discuss developments concerning the Cyprus issue, the state of the island’s economy and that of eurozone members, matters to be discussed at the next EU Summit other regional issues.
The Cypriot delegation will consist, among others, of the foreign minister, the government spokesman, the undersecretary to the president and the permanent representative to the EU.
The European Council President and his delegation will depart from Cyprus later on Tuesday evening.
