Motor vehicles registrations down by 31.9 per cent in first nine months

Total registrations of motor vehicles during the first nine months of 2013 decreased by 31.9 per cent to 14,035, from 20,608 vehicles during the same period in 2012, the statistical services said on Friday.

In particular, private saloon car registrations decreased to 9,999 in 2013, from 15,300 in 2012 a decrease of 34.6 per cent.

Of the total private saloon cars, 4,642 vehicles or 46.4 per cent were new and 5,357 or 53.6 per cent were used cars.
Goods conveyance vehicle registrations decreased by 36.5 per cent to 1,252 in 2013, compared to 1,971 in 2012.
Moped registrations decreased by 20.3 per cent to 177 in January-September 2013, compared to 222 in January-September 2012 and mechanised cycles decreased by 20.4 per cent to 1,351 in 2013, compared to 1,698 in January-September 2012.
