Man fined €1,190 for smuggled cigarettes

A 22-year old man was fined €1,190 yesterday, after police found 50 cartons of cigarettes in his possession bought in the Turkish Cypriot breakaway state.

According to police, the cigarettes were found in the man’s car when he was stopped for a routine check in Ayia Napa yesterday.

Customs fined 22-year-old and proceeded to confiscate the 50 cartons.
