Motorbike death

AN 18-year-old Greek student was killed and another injured on Thursday night in Nicosia after he crashed the motorbike he was driving, police said.

According to reports at around 10.30pm the Greek student was riding his motorbike along Demokritou Road in Pallouriotissa when he lost control of the bike and crashed into a parked car.

On the bike with the 18-year-old was another Greek student, 19, who suffered a head injury.

Both men were taken to Nicosia GeneralHospital where doctors confirmed that the driver had died. The 19-year-old passenger was held for precautionary reasons but his condition is not considered to be life threatening.

Neither man was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said.

The police call on anyone who may know anything about the accident to contact Nicosia Traffic department, their closest police station or the citizen’s hotline on 1460.
