Teen in custody over series of burglaries

A 16-year-old boy is due to appear before the Larnaca District Court on Wednesday to be remanded in connection with several theft cases.

Acting on a tip-off police said they searched the teen’s home in Larnaca and found a number of stolen items were found, including TV sets, religious icons and other objects that were taken recently from a church in Kellia village, Larnaca, and a local club building in Kalo Chorio, Larnaca.

The 16-year old was arrested and brought before the Larnaca District Court on Tuesday. However, as the youngster requested legal aid, the court was expected to issue its remand ruling on Wednesday.

Last year, the teen, along with another boy the same age, were the subjects of a police investigation into a series of burglaries in Kornos and Mosphiloti villages.
