Cyclist killed in hit and run

A 22-YEAR-OLD Romanian cyclist was killed in a hit and run near Nicosia on Sunday.

According to police, the 22-year-old was riding his bike along Grigori Afxentiou Avenue in Kokkinotrimithia, in the Nicosia district, at around 6.45pm when he was hit by the car and ended up unconscious in a nearby field.

The driver fled the scene. The victim’s family called the police after the victim had failed to return home. Police found him in the field unconscious just after 8pm. He was rushed to the Nicosia General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are searching for the driver of the car.
