Armed robbery at Limassol co-op (updated)

TWO MEN armed with an army issue assault rifle and a pistol robbed a Limassol co-op at lunchtime on Monday, getting away with over €31,000.

Police believe they are the same ones who robbed another Limassol co-op on November 28 since they used the same weapons – a G3 assault rifle and a pistol – and drove off in an identical vehicle, a dark blue Nissan Terrano.

Police said the two entered the public servants’ savings co-op on Alexandria Street and demanded the money while threatening the two cashiers and two customers.

Witnesses said the robbers spoke with a Cypriot dialect.

They remain at large despite a manhunt launched by the police.
