Golf in Cyprus is now aimed at the upper end of the market with green fees now typically £100 sterling a round in high season – roughly January to March.
About 10 years ago Secret Valley was about £25 a round so this is a fourfold increase. In my case; instead of 4-5 rounds in my annual month – long stay – I do not play at all. At my English Golf Club very few, irrespective of wealth, would contemplate paying these prices, which are comparable to perhaps the top 1.0 per cent of British courses.
I am interested (indeed fascinated) as to whether this business strategy is actually working.
