Couple robbed at knifepoint in Nicosia

A couple from Nicosia were robbed during the early hours of Wednesday when two masked men entered their home and at knifepoint managed to steal jewellery valued at around €1,150, police said.

A 63-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife were asleep in bed at home when the door-bell rang at around 1am. According to reports the 63-year-old unwittingly opened the door and two men wearing ski-masks entered and sprayed with a harmful substance.

In his efforts to stop the two robbers, the 63-year-old was cut by the blade one of the two men was holding and had to be taken to Nicosia General Hospital. He was given first aid and released.

Nicosia CID is investigating.
